Winds, dust expected

Strong winds are expected in parts of the country by this afternoon along with dusty conditions, the Qatar Met department has said.

The wind speed (northwesterly-northeasterly) will be 8-18 knots inshore, going up to 25 knots in some places during the day.

The detailed forecast also says it will be hazy in the early hours of the day, followed by hot daytime conditions with slight to blowing dust in some areas. The night will be humid. Hazy conditions and slight dust are, meanwhile, likely in some offshore areas at times, according to the weather report.  A maximum temperature of 42C is expected in Doha today, followed by 40C in Al Khor.  Yesterday, the maximum was 45C in Sheehaniya, Batna, Karanah and Turayna, while in Doha it was 41C. The Met department has also issued general climate information for the month of August in Doha. The third month of summer is characterised by high humidity and temperatures, which result in uncomfortable conditions for people.
