We fabricated the crisis with Qatar to withdraw World Cup 2022: UAE official admits

Doha: In a statement, the first of its kind since the siege began on Qatar, Head of General Security for the Emirate of Dubai, Dhahi Khalfan, admitted that they had set off the crisis with Qatar to withdraw the 2022 world cup from Qatar.

"If the World Cup goes away from Qatar, the Qatar crisis will go away ... because the crisis is fabricated in order to break it," Khalfan said in a tweet through his account on Twitter.

The scam is a clear indication of the fact that the media from these countries continue to launch campaigns spreading fake news and false accusations aimed at 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The media from blockade countries are distorting information and spreading malice to achieve their goal to undermine Qatar as world cup hosts.

The regional blockade on Qatar poses no risk to the 2022 World Cup going ahead, Qatar World Cup supreme committee Secretary- General Hassan Al Thawadi told Associated Press few days back.

“We have come under criticism and attack over the years, but we have always faced our critics,”  he said.

“Our projects are going ahead as scheduled. This (blockade) is no risk in relation to the hosting of the World Cup.”
