“I and my fellow riders love to explore many public parks but I am captivated by the design and picturesque view of this linear park (at Ras Abu Aboud), and I really feel safe here,” said an e-scooter rider, who frequents the park during the weekends this cold season.

Plants and trees that bear flowers and leaves of varying colours at the park greet visitors who often spend their free time either in the morning or early afternoon.

Groups of friends can also be seen having picnics in the area while others see it as an opportunity to take panoramic pictures for their social media pages.

The park also provides residents in Qatar another unique outdoor space for physical and recreational activities amid the current Covid-19 situation.

A cycling enthusiast said that he finds such places as safe havens for joggers, cyclists, e-scooter riders, and those who want to go out, exercise, and enjoy the weather.

Public parks such as this linear park at Ras Abu Aboud form part of the Qatar government’s efforts to build safe and environment-friendly destinations for families and children.

Qatar built several parks at various locations in the country, giving residents easy access to green spaces that are conducive for different kinds of activities.

Another park-goer said sports and face-to-face activities at outdoor spaces such as public parks, in many ways, help in keeping away children from electronic and mobile devices.
