Visiting Qatar

The State of Qatar allows citizens of over 95 countries a visa-free entry into the country. The permissible lengths of stay vary, and visitors should check with an authorised institution for the terms and conditions that apply.

Visa on arrival

  • You’re eligible for a single-entry visa on arrival if your passport is issued from one of the countries on this list. The single-entry visa on arrival is valid for a one-month stay in Qatar and it can be renewed for a further two months.
  • You can avail this visa at the immigration counter of the Airport after you present your passport and pay your visa fee.
  • You’re eligible for a single-entry visa on arrival if you’re a resident of a GCC country (Gulf Cooperation Council) and your residence permit is valid for at least six months and if your profession (as mentioned on your residence permit) appears on this list. Please present your passport and pay your visa fee at the immigration counter of the airport for getting your visa.

Paying your visa fee

  • You can pay your visa fee easily with your credit card or debit card, directly at a passport control counter or the immigration counter. The visa fee is based on your nationality and type of visa.
  • You can also pay your visa fee by cash at the designated bank counter before you approach a passport control counter.

For Indian Visitors

Documents required:

  • Original Indian Passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of departure.
  • Scanned copies of the first and last page of the applicant’s passport.
  • 2 passport sized photographs preferably against a white background.
  • Scanned copy of the return air tickets for the journey
  • Scanned copy of the detailed itinerary with the applicant’s name for the planned duration of stay.
  • Scanned copies of applicant’s bank statements for the previous 3 months.

  • The letter must be signed by the guardian if the applicant is a minor.

If the applicant’s purpose of travel is to visit a friend or family, the following documents are required from the host:

  • A letter of invitation from.
  • Name, designation and contact details.
  • Confirmation of accommodation along with their address, signature and date.
  • The scanned copy of the host’s Qatar Passport Information Page or the scanned copy of the Qatar Residence Permit.
  • A copy of the host’s National Passport Information Page.

Steps to Apply Qatar Visa Online

The applicant should follow the below-mentioned steps to complete the Qatar Visa application process:

  • Fill the online application form on the official website for Qatar Visa.
  • Download and print the application form (To be printed on a single side only).
  • Submit the signed form along with the necessary documents at the nearest Visa Help Desk.
  • Tracking is possible. It usually takes nearly 7-10 working days to get the visa.

Additional Visa Requirements categorized as per types of Visas

  • A joint tourist visa requires copies of 3 months of bank statements.
  • A tourist visa needs the resident permit and copies of 3 months bank statements.

TR or Transit Visa

The Transit visa is needed by people who have special situations and are stopping by Qatar (for 2 days) before continuing to their destination. But people in transit between flights won’t need it. Apply using the Visa application form or Form V1.

Documents required:

  • The original and a photocopy of your valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months.
  • Copy of the Qatari residence ID or permit.
  • 2 passport size photographs.
  • Photocopy of to and fro flight tickets.

The Visa processing time for the non-residents is 5 days.

Business Visa

You must apply using the Visa application form or Form V1. Employers in Qatar must issue a letter stating the business purpose. Mention the Indian business associate company’s name, applicant’s designation and salary in the letter. If the applicant has stayed in Qatar for less than 2 years, the time taken for Visa processing is 5 days. Non-residents cannot get a business Visa.

Documents required:

  • The original and a photocopy of your valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months.
  • Copy of the Qatari residence ID or permit.
  • 2 passport size photographs.
  • Proof of income, ownership of the business and 3 months bank statement

Employment Visa

Apply using the Visa application form or Form V1. Potential employers in India must issue a letter stating the purpose. Non-residents cannot avail employment Visa

Documents required:

  • Original and a photocopy of your valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months.
  • Copy of the Qatari residence ID or permit.
  • 2 passport size photographs.
  • Original and photocopy of educational qualification documents.
  • The original employment contract provided by the firm, company or organization & the photocopy of the same.

Student Visa

Students must apply using the Visa application form or Form V1.

Documents required:

  • Original and a photocopy of your valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months.
  • Copy of the Qatari residence ID or permit.
  • 2 passport size photographs.
  • Photocopies of educational documents like pass certificate, mark sheet, etc.
  • Admission letter from any recognized university to pursue a specific full-time course or a certificate course.
  • Salary certificate of the local sponsor.
