Use Metrash2 to report traffic violations, cybercrimes, fraud

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has reminded the public of the various purposes for which the ‘Communicate with us’ feature on Metrash2 can be used. These include reporting certain traffic violations and cybercrimes, submitting criminal complaints and taking photographs of violations and sending them via the app, according to tweets by the ministry.

The ‘Communicate with us’ section has a ‘Traffic’ window, through which people can report violations such as occupying parking spaces for persons with special needs, overtaking from the right, obstructing traffic and parking in a prohibited area.

In another tweet, the MoI stressed that the ‘Communicate with us’ service on Metrash2 is a “key feature to provide many community awareness, security and general services. All its services are easily accessible”.

The services are: Inquiries, Economic and Electronic Reporting, Community Policing, CID, Criminal Complaint (Security Department), ‘Contact us’, Traffic and Criminal Evidence and Information (S’hail exhibition).

Through the ‘Inquiries’ window in the ‘Communicate with us’ section on Metrash2, one can submit queries about the General Directorate of Traffic, General Directorate of Passports and Human Rights Department, the MoI said.

The ‘Economic and Electronic Reporting’ option provides services on reporting different types of cybercrimes, forgery, infringement of intellectual property, money laundering, financial fraud and financial corruption, according to the ministry.

This option also provides services such as requests for awareness lecture, activity or exhibition participation and general requests.

Meanwhile, the MoI said the ‘Communicate with us’ window allows users to take photographs of violations or any negative behaviours and send them through Metrash2.

Through the ‘Criminal Complaint’ option, one can submit the following complaints: breach of trust, scam, general complaints and non-payment of dues.

Online services provided by the MoI recorded an increase in the number of users after Covid-19 precautionary measures were put in place, it was reported recently. This was highlighted during an awareness session organised by the MoI’s Public Relations Department in association with the General Directorate of Passports. For instance, the Metrash2 app recorded 763,635 and 440,028 transactions during the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021, respectively.
