US becomes first World Cup team to arrive in Qatar

DOHA: The USA national football team has arrived in Doha today to prepare for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. US players became the first team to arrive in Qatar, ten days before the tournament starts.

The American team, coached by Gregg Berhalter, are staying at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski on the Pearl. They will train at the Al Gharafa club ground about 15 kilometers (nine miles) away.

The United States are playing in the finals for the first time in eight years. Coach Berhalter, announced today the final list of the 26-man squad for the World Cup.

The US national football team will compete in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals in Group B along with Iran, Wales, and England.

The team will start its World Cup campaign against Wales in Group B on November 21 at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, before facing England on November 25 at Al Bayt Stadium, and then conclude the group stage by playing against Iran on November 29 at Al Thumama Stadium.

The United States have played in 11 World Cups. They were third at the first tournament in 1930, famously beat England 1-0 at the 1950 World Cup and reached the quarter-finals in 2002. They reached every finals from 1990 until 2014 but failed to get to Russia 2018.

The participating teams for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 started arriving today, with the US National Team being the first team to arrive. According to Qatar News Agency, the arrival dates of participating teams may change according to FIFA updates:
