UK relaxes travel rules for Qatar; to be moved to amber list

Doha: Qatar will be moved to United Kingdom's amber list effective from Sunday, August 8, 2021.

Qatar Airways announced this on its social media accounts.

Department for Transport and Department of Health and Social Care in its updated travel guidelines stated that Qatar is currently on the red list but will be moved to amber list starting 4am, Sunday, August 8. Any passenger who arrives before then must follow the red list rules, which is hotel quarantine with 2 Covid-19 tests after arrival.

Apart from Qatar, the UK also eased rules for arrivals from India, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, moving them from the UK’s highest-risk "red” list to its medium-risk "amber” list.

Those arriving from amber list countries to UK need a Covid-19 test taken 3 days prior to travel to England and pay for Covid-19 tests after arriving. The traveller will have to undergo a home quarantine for 10 days with two Covid-19 tests on or before day 2 and on or after day 8.

Fully UK vaccinated travellers do not need to quarantine or take the day 8 test after they arrive in England, as per the UK guidance

Britain opened its borders to fully vaccinated travellers from the US and European Union on Monday,  August 2, allowing people to enjoy the benefits of Covid-19 inoculation program.
