Thousands participate in Abdullah Bin Zaid Centre's Ramadan activities

Ramadan activities by the Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre under the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs have been evoking a good response from citizens and residents.

According to an official statement from the ministry, a talk titled ‘Ramadan Explained’ by Shaikh Ismail Menk recently was attended by more than 3,000 people at the Katara Ampitheatre.

The speaker talked about the journey to discover the secrets of the blessed month. The talk was held within the framework of co-operation between Awqaf and Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation.

The centre also holds a daily Iftar in the Industrial Area, which is attended by more than 200 persons on a daily basis. The Iftar is accompanied by lectures by prominent preachers who discuss the specialties of Ramadan.

Within the framework of the centre’s competence to educate non-Arab expatriates about Islamic culture and Qatari heritage, the centre held the Bin Zaid Ramadan Forum programme for the Russian community. The programme was attended by 80 Russian-speakers and it was aimed at introducing them to fasting and rituals along with the customs of Qatari society during the holy month.

Also, the centre also held the Bin Zaid Forum programme for the Tamil-speaking Sri Lankan community with the attendance of 250 people. These are in addition to the Bin Zaid Ramadan Forum for the Spanish-speaking community.
