* Doha sees high of 47C, wndy conditions expected from Thursday

The temperature went up to 48C in Mesaimeer Tuesday, with Doha and a number of other places recording a high of 47C, weather charts showed.

Doha, Mesaieed and Wakra are expected to see a maximum temperature of 47C Wednesday, with Abu Samra following closely at 46C, according to the forecast.

The weather office Tuesday tweeted that the temperature would continue to rise in the country over the next two days "as a result of winds, mostly southerly", with the maximum expected to range from 37-47C in different places.

Meanwhile, the Qatar Met department has said fresh to strong northwesterly winds, locally known as Al Bawarih, are expected to affect most areas of the country from Thursday until Sunday, June 7.

"As the Indian monsoon low deepens, the wind speed is expected to increase, especially during the daytime - ranging from 12-22 knots and gusting to 35 knots in some areas at times," the weather office said in a report Tuesday.

This will lead to blowing dust and low horizontal visibility, which may drop to 3km or less in some places at times. The wind speed will decrease at night while the wave height offshore is expected to rise, ranging from 4-7ft and reaching a high of 10ft in some areas at times, the report says.

The Met department has urged everyone to be cautious, avoid all marine activities and to follow the latest update through its official accounts.
