Temp crosses 45°C at many places today; QMD forecasts hot weekend in Qatar

Doha: Qatar witnessed one of the hottest days of the season today with many places recording a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius. 

As per Qatar Meteorology Department data shows that Al Khor, Qatar University, Shahaniyah, Mesaimeer, Mukaynis, Turayna and Sudanthile recorded a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius today. Hamad Airport recorded max and min temperature of 43 and 31 degree Celsius.

Messaid and Abu Samra recorded the lowest temperature of 24 degree Celsius today.

Mesaimeer and Sudanthile recorded 46 degree Celsius on Wednesday also.

QMD, on its recent weather update, had that hot weather will continue during the coming days, especially on Wednesday and Thursday. 

The maximum temperature will range between 37 to 47 degrees Celsius in different areas of the country, QMD had tweeted then. 

Weekend will remain hot bu the temperature is expected to dip a little as maximum predicted for Friday and Saturday are 44 and 42 degree Celsius respectively.

According to the forecast for the weekend, Friday will be hot to very hot weather at places at daytime and misty offshores. Saturday will be hot daytime and hazy and misty offshore.

As the country faces hot weather conditions, QMD shared a few tips during this period including:

- Wearing comfortable, light-colored clothes to reflect the sun's light 

- Drink enough fluids

- Children not to be left alone in the car

- Workers in exposed/outdoor places should take breaks in the shade
