Strong winds in some areas forecast

Strong winds are expected in parts of the country today, the Qatar Met department has said.

Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds along with high seas until this evening.

Northwesterly winds will blow at a speed of 10-20 knots, reaching a high of 26 knots in some places during the day. In offshore areas, the wind speed will be 15-22 knots, going up to 25 knots at first and decreasing to 8-18 knots by the evening.

The detailed forecast says hazy to misty conditions are expected in some inshore areas in the early hours of the day, followed by mild daytime conditions with slight to blowing dust in some places at times. It will be relatively cold by night, according to the weather report.

Hazy conditions are also likely in offshore areas at times, while the sea level may rise to 8ft before decreasing to 3-5ft by the evening.

A minimum temperature of 19C is expected today in Abu Samra, while in Doha it will be 23C. Yesterday, a minimum temperature of 20C was recorded in Turayna and Karana, followed by 21C in Al Sheehaniya, Batna and Abu Samra. In the capital, the minimum was 22C in the Qatar University area.
