Strong winds and drop in temperature from tomorrow night: QMD

Doha: Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) forecasts strong winds from tomorrow night until Friday (January 20 - January 22). 

According to its weather charts, QMD stated that strong northwesterly winds will bring a wind speed ranging between 15 to 25 KT gusting to 35 KT at times in some areas. 

This weather condition will also lead to blowing dust and low visibility to less than 2 km in some areas with dusty weather, most especially on Thursday. 

On the other hand, wave heights will also range between 7-11 ft rising to 14 ft in some areas where wind gusts exceed to 40 KT in some areas offshore. The wind speed inshore will also gradually decrease from Friday evening. 

A marine warning also remains effective until Saturday.

Temperature will also drop during the weekend, with highest temperature ranging between 18 to 24 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature will range between 8 to 16 degrees Celsius and may reach less than that in southern and remote parts of the country. 

Due to the forecasted weather conditions, QMD urged all citizens and residents to avoid all marine activities during this period.
