SriLankan Airlines celebrate 42nd anniversary

SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of the oneworld alliance, held a tree planting event at Hamad International Airport (HIA) to mark its 42nd anniversary of its presence in Doha and the rest of the world.

Sri Lanka’s ambassador to Qatar M Mafaz Mohideen was the chief guest on the occasion.

The HIA's senior vice-president (operations) Ioannis Metsovitis, vice-president (marketing and corporate communications) Abdulaziz al-Mass, SriLankan Airlines country manager Thusitha Wickramasinghe, and officials from the general sales agent (GSA) Ali Bin Ali travel Bureau were present.

This year’s celebration emphasised the corporate social responsibility of SriLankan and the motto “giving back to the society and the environment”.

Accordingly, trees were planted around the world throughout the SriLankan airlines network.

Addressing the gathering, Wickramasinghe described the occasion as a memorable moment.

"It also gives me immense pleasure to celebrate this event with two prominent stakeholders – Hamad international Airport, the world’s best Airport and our partner Ali Bin Ali Travel Bureau, the leading GSA in the state," he added.

Ali Bin Ali Travel Bureau general manager Saeed al-Hajri congratulated SriLankan Airlines and its management and staff for celebrating its 42nd anniversary.

“Ali Bin Ali Travel Bureau and SriLankan airlines have four decades of relationship built on trust, and we believe it will continue to be strengthen in the years to come,” he said.
