Shabab Oman II navy ship arrives in Qatar

The Omani navy ship "Shabab Oman II" arrived at Hamad Port on Thursday, as part of an academic trip to the ports of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states.

The student delegation onboard the ship was welcomed ipon arrival by HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali, HE Director of Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Youssef Fakhro, Omani ambassador to Qatar Najib bin Yahya al-Balushi, and a number of ambassadors accredited to Qatar. They welcomed the ship's captain, crew, and participating delegation.

The ship is carrying a delegation of male and female students of different nationalities from GCC and other friendly and brotherly countries, including 30 male and female students from the GCC, 11 university students from around the world, and several university academics.

In remarks on this occasion, ambassador al-Balushi expressed pride at the arrival of the Shabab Oman II at Hamad Port on its fifth voyage, coinciding with the celebrations of the Sultanate of Oman of its 51st National Day on Nov 18, noting that the ship carries a message of brotherhood, peace, and coexistence among the peoples of the world, extends bridges of friendship, and revives the ancient Omani maritime heritage.
