A number of beaches in Qatar, including Umm Bab, have been attracting many residents who want to enjoy the sea breeze and weekends just before summer sets in.
Unlike other popular beaches across the country, Umm Bab, located in Al Sheehaniya municipality, is secluded but many visitors find it unique due to its calm waters, in addition to the bunch of palm trees that serve both as attraction and shelter.
The current Covid-19 situation makes this destination, about 80kms from Doha, an excellent and safe place to relax and bond with the family. It is learnt that the past few days witnessed some families, groups of friends, and individuals camp overnight at Umm Bab, hoping to see a picturesque view of the sunset.
According to regular beachgoers, it would be most fitting to visit Umm Bab in March and April when water is not so cold for swimming. Besides, a pleasant weather also entices visitors hold an array of fun-filled activities such as beach volleyball, Frisbee, and other recreational games. From Umm Bab beach, residents can also explore many domestic destinations (but adhering to Covid-19 precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus), considered as Qatar’s hidden treasures.
