Samsung has launched the 2016 edition of the Galaxy A8. The smartphone is driven by an Octacore processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage internal memory.

The new Galaxy A8 features a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED Gorilla Glass 2.5D display, a 16 MP rear and 8 MP front camera, powered by a 3,300mAh battery that supports fast charging. Running on Android 6.0.1, the 2016 edition boasts of a metal uni-body design and fingerprint scanner.

Tarek Sabbagh, head of IT and Mobile (IM) Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics said: “Through the Galaxy A8, we are not only providing the latest imaging capabilities at an affordable price point, but also combining sleek design with powerful performance and productivity tools. ”

The 16 MP rear and 8 MP front cameras, both featuring f/1.9 aperture, take crisp, brighter and very vivid images. The Wide Selfie function gives a 103° view and allows to get more people and landscape into pictures -  even with the front camera.

The Rear Cam Selfie function automatically detects the subject’s face. The smartphone has advanced selfie features including ultra wide shot, GIF shooting modes and auto selfie modes – palm and voice selfie. With the ‘Beautifying effect’ facial features can be retouched, such as slimming the face or enlarging eyes.

The always-on-display, first seen on the Galaxy S7, allows users to see the latest notifications and other key information immediately without waking the screen, using less than 1% battery charge per hour. It also has a microSD slot that can accommodate up to 256GB. The phone is available in blue, silver and gold at a recommended retail price of QR1,799.
