Safari Group extends helping hand

Qatar-based Safari Group of Companies has handed over a cheque of Rs5mn  to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to “provide a helping hand to rebuild” the flood-hit southern Indian state of Kerala.

Safari Group managing director Aboobacker Madappat and Group director and general manager Zainul Abideen jointly handed over the cheque to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the presence of Assembly Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan.

“Kerala has faced the most massive natural disaster ever in its history. Millions of people faced misery and devastation, many lives were lost. It is our duty to unite to rebuilding a new and better Kerala,” Safari Group said in a press statement yesterday.

Accordingly, the management and staff of Safari Group of Companies contributed one day’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to “provide a helping hand to rebuild Kerala”, the statement noted.

“The chief minister of Kerala has appealed to all Malayalis to contribute one month’s salary for rebuilding Kerala. In line with this request, the management and staff of Safari Group has initiated this project,” the company added.
