Registration for subsidised sheep prices initiative begins

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced, in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality, the beginning of registration for the subsidised sheep prices initiative in preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Adha.

The registration process started on Wednesday and will continue until June 15, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

In a statement, the MoCI said the step is part of its keenness to encourage and support livestock breeders and farm and ranch owners to increase local sheep production and protect the economic and trading environment in the State "by maintaining a balance between supply and demand, thereby protecting the stability of prices in the market, and ensure locals' access to this commodity at suitable prices", QNA said.

Accordingly, the MoCI clarified that applicants - livestock breeders and farm owners who own male sheep of the following breeds: Syrian Awassi, Arabi, Harri and Najdi) - have to register with the Department of Livestock at the Ministry of Municipality (Al Mansour Tower, 11th floor) in person or with a documented power of attorney.

The ministry also highlighted the terms and conditions for registering in the initiative, which include having a valid farm permit and a livestock breeder certificate.
