QU organises 11th Career Fair

Qatar University Career Services Center (QU-CSC) is hosting its 11th Career Fair, which aims to provide QU students with the opportunity to meet and interact with employers and representatives of companies to seek employment and training opportunities. The four-day event began yesterday and continues until March 9 and features around 71 information booths from government and private organisations.

Students have the opportunity to interact with employers and get an insight into the labour market’s needs and employers’ expectations as well as the various training services and internships they can follow to develop their skills, abilities and professional experience.

The event was inaugurated by QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham in the presence of university officials and students. It is open to QU male (until today) and female (March 8-9) students.

In his remarks, Dr al-Derham said: “This annual event provides QU students and alumni with the opportunity to interact with the representatives of local institutions in order to help them choose the institution in which they want to train and find appropriate career opportunities.

“The event drew the remarkable presence of many organisations in the government and private sectors. We, at QU, are keen to provide students with training opportunities that help them uplift their skills and competencies and build their future career.”

CSC director Maha al-Marri added, “The event highlights QU’s commitment to provide the local labour market with highly qualified graduates.

CSC offers various services that prepare QU students to join the labour market after graduation. We hope that this annual event helps our students to fulfil their professional goals.”

QU College of Business and Economics student and volunteer Refaa al-Qahtani said, “This is the fourth time that I participate in this event as a volunteer. I have benefited from this experience by developing my time-management and teamwork skills.”

MEC at Career Fair

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) is participating in the 11th annual Career Fair hosted by Qatar University (QU).

The ministry said participation in the event for the fourth time was based on its keenness to train national personnel and co-operate with different educational institutions in the country to suitably qualify for the labour market, according to a Qatar News Agency report.

Last year, the MEC was able to offer opportunities to 18 trainees in different fields.
