QNL, Fire Station get electric car charging stations

Doha: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), has installed two new electric car charging stations. 

The 20th and 21st charging stations have been installed at Qatar Fire Station Museum and Qatar National Library (QNL).

President of Kahramaa Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said: “We are committed in Kahramaa to support the sustainability in Qatar, and one of its most important axes is to encourage the use of electric vehicles and establish the necessary infrastructure for them, in compliance with Qatar National Vision 2030.”

He said that it is in line with the requirements of sustainable development within the framework of the Paris Agreement, to which the State of Qatar and Kahramaa are committed.

Director of Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department at Kahramaa, Eng. Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi said so far, 21 charging stations have been completed as effective models in all sectors of the country. Work is currently underway to complete the installation and operation of six new stations in cooperation with several ministries and authorities.

Kahramaa is finalising the award of the public tender for the installation and operation of 100 electric vehicle charging stations in vital places in Qatar this year.
