Qatar’s embassies, consulates celebrate National Day

DOHA:  Qatar’s embassies and diplomatic missions marked the National Day, which is celebrated on December 18 of every year, in commemoration of the state’s founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, under the theme “The Path of Excellence is Difficult.”

In Muscat, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Sultanate of Oman H E Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar.

The ceremony was attended by H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to H M Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed Sultan of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, as “The Guest of Honour”, and a number of His Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers and Honorable and a number of members of the State Council and Shura and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, and a number of businessmen media persons and Qatari students in the Sultanate.

In Madrid, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Spain H E Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Hamar, held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar.

Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaiei attended the ceremony, on the sidelines of his official visit to Madrid to participate in the climate change conference.

The ceremony was attended by a number of senior political and governmental figures, ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the Spanish private sector.

At the ceremony, a video was screened in Spanish language, which reflects the comprehensive development and progress witnessed by the State of Qatar, along with models of infrastructures, facilities and stadiums that will host the 2022 World Cup.

In his speech at the ceremony, H E the Ambassador of Qatar commended bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Spain, pointing to the economic cooperation between the two countries and the development of Qatari investments in Spain, and the participation of many Spanish companies in important projects in Qatar.

In Tunis, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Tunisian Republic H E Saad Nasser Al Humaidi hosted a reception on the occasion of the country’s National Day. The ceremony was attended by HE the Speaker of the Council of Representatives Rashid Ghannouchi, HE Minister of Finance Mohamed Reda Shalghoum, HE Abdullah Al-Rabhi, Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources and Sea Fishing in charge of water resources and sea fishing, and a number of politicians, journalists, businessmen, intellectuals and representatives of the civil society.

In his speech to the ceremony, the Ambassador affirmed the importance of the ties between the two brotherly countries, as a role model in the distinguished relations, and he reviewed the successes achieved by the State of Qatar during the past years. For his part, HE Tunisian Minister of Finance Mohamed Reda Shalghoum stressed the strength of the relations between the two brotherly countries, praising the level of joint cooperation. He also thanked the State of Qatar for its stand with Tunisia and congratulated the State of Qatar on the occasion of this dear anniversary.

In Beirut, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Lebanese Republic H E Mohamed Hassan Al Jaber, held a reception on the occasion of the country’s national day. The ceremony was attended by HE Salim Jreissati, Minister of State for the Presidency of the Lebanese Republic, representative of HE President Michel Aoun, HE MP Ali Bazzi representing HE the Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, HE MP Mohammad Al Hajjar representing HE the Prime Minister of the Caretaker Government Saad Hariri, and HE Ambassador Najla Asaker Al-Ryashi representing HE Gebran Bassil, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker government, and President Elie Al Farazli, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and HE Fouad Siniora.

In Addis Ababa, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia H E Hamad bin Mohammad Al Dossari, hosted a reception on the occasion of the country’s national day, in the presence of a number of officials and heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Ethiopia.

In Algiers, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria H E Hassan bin Ibrahim Al-Malki held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar. The ceremony was attended by H E Minister of Energy Mohammed Arqab, HE Minister of Finance Mohammed Lukal, Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Council Dr. Abu Abdullah Ghulam Allah, Vice President of the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars Dr. Ammar Talbi, a number of officials in the Algerian government, and the heads and members of the diplomatic corps, a number of public figures and journalists.

In Istanbul, Consul General of the State of Qatar in Istanbul H E Mansour bin Abdullah Al Sulaiteen held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar. The ceremony was attended by a number of officials, public figures and media people in Istanbul.
