Qataris represents 35 percent of East-to-West Ultra Run runners

Doha: The 2021 edition of the Qatar East-to-West Ultra Run, which concluded yesterday, saw large turnout of Qatari men and women, representing 35percent of the total participants.

The race started from the Sheraton Park and ended at Dukhan beach.  661 competitors took part in the event - 511 men and 149 female runners compromising 56 nationalities.

The event was organized under the supervision of Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) at the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
Abdullah Al-Dosari, Director of Events and Activities at Qatar Sports for All Federation said that the average age of the competitors ranged around 35 years, the youngest contestant was 16 years  old and the oldest contestant 64 years.
The first place was won by Mohsen Zitouni in the men’s singles category as he completed the race in a time of 6 hours, 50 minutes and 15 seconds.

Nasr El-Din Mansour came in second in the same category, with a time of 6 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds. Roble Josephat took third with a time of 7 hours, 8 minutes and 45 seconds.

In the women's category, Russell Ueuro took first place with a time of 8 hours 22 minutes 42 seconds.
Then came Sarah Talia, with a time of 8 hours, 41 minutes and 13 seconds, and third spot was claimed by Jenny Lawler with a time of 9 hours, 39 minutes and 26 seconds.

For the team category, the Police Institute team came first with a time of 4 hours, 59 minutes and 1 second, followed by the Beauty team with a time of 5 hours, 3 minutes and 55 seconds, and the Police College team with a time of 5 hours, 13 minutes and 54 seconds.

The Ultra marathon is the longest and the only ultra-running race in Qatar where athletes run across the country cost to cost, covering 90 km.
The competition started unofficially in 2017 with 25 runners and the first official edition was in 2018.
