Qatari tourists in the UK spend more than travellers from other countries during the summer holidays, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday, quoting a UK-based paper.

In general, visitors from the Middle East are expected to increase their average summer spending by 25% in the coming weeks, the report states.

Last year, tourists from Qatar topped the list by spending an average £288 every time they bought something. Visitors from Saudi Arabia spent around £200 and those from the UAE £188. On the other hand, Americans spent an average of £65 during each shopping transaction and Europeans around £49.

Visitors to the UK from the Middle East spent an average of £152 on each purchase last August. Besides, 69% of the total Middle Eastern spending took place in major department and clothing stores.
