Qatar welcomes the signing of the peace agreement by the United States and the Taliban in Doha, and considers it an important first step to complete the comprehensive and sustainable peace process in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“Qatar highly values the efforts and keenness of the American President Donald Trump and the American administration to make the negotiations a success, and also praises the keenness of Taliban to crown the talks with a peace agreement.
“Qatar is looking forward to completing the peace process in Afghanistan in the near future and considers it important that this process includes all the spectrum of the Afghani regions and societal sectors to ensure a prosperous future for the friendly Afghani people.
“Qatar stresses that it is easy to start wars and crises, but it is difficult to engage in a constructive diplomacy. This is why it considers this agreement an important step on the road to settle all conflicts in the world through peaceful means.
“To conclude, Qatar confirms that it will not spare any effort to continue its effective participation in all the international and regional efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable peace in Afghanistan,” the statement added.
