Qatar to stage Broadway-style extravagant Indian musical in December

The first Broadway-style extravagant Indian musical will premier in Doha next month.

The musical, which is directed by renowned Indian playwright Feroz Abbas Khan, is a homage to K Asif’s classic film, Mughal-e-Azam.

With over 350 cast and crew members, more than 200 lights illuminating the extravagant stage sets,  550 Mughal era costumes designed by well-known Indian designer Manish Malhotra, choreography by Mayuri Upadhyay and live singing by the lead actors, the musical is going to be a phenomenal experience for the viewers in Qatar.

After having more than 170 houseful performances in India and abroad, this world-class theatrical production from India, is set to perform for three days from December 19 till 21, at the Al Mayassa Theatre in Qatar National Convention Center.

The stage production has all the dramatic elements expected from a musical — thunderous dialogues, melodious songs and mesmerizing dance sequences.

The play swept the Broadway World Awards, bagging awards in 7 categories, including Best Play & Best Director.

The tickets for the show are priced from QR 150 to QR 1,500 and can be purchased online at the Q-tickets website.
