Qatar suspends schools and universities due to coronavirus

Doha: The Government Communications Office announced, in a statement today, the suspension of classes in public and private schools and universities for all students in the State of Qatar as of Tuesday, March 10, 2020, until further notice.

The suspension is within the efforts and measures taken by the State of Qatar to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and to ensure the safety of students in all public and private educational institutions.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Administrative Development Labor & Social Affairs also announced the suspension of nurseries in the country from tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, 2020 until further notice in the interest of the safety of children and nursery workers.

The Ministry of Public Health urges all citizens and residents to avoid gatherings in public places, avoid all but essential travel at this time, and apply preventive measures to prevent infection as recommended by the Ministry on its website and its accounts on social media.

The Ministry has also set up a dedicated, round-the-clock call center to answer all questions and inquiries related to coronavirus (COVID-19). The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.
