FIRST CONTRACT FOR POULTRY FARMS SIGNED
A QR 1.3bn contract for setting up poultry farms was awarded to a private company by the ministry of Economy and commerce, Qatar. This was awarded as a part of Food Security Scheme and is asked to bring into existence as early as possible.


All together 34 private firms participate in the bid, 10 got shortlisted and finally the project was awarded to Dar Al Rayyan by the technical committee.
The objective of this project is to produce 40,000 tonnes of chicken and 7500 tonnes of eggs yearly and is expected to meet the demand of 38 per cent of the local demand of chicken. The current supply amount is only 7.7 per cent and with this t will rise up to 46 per cent.in case of egg production the new project will add 26.3 per cent to the present 15.7 per cent to make it 42 per cent.
To reduce the dependence on imported egg and chicken the committee is planning to do similar projects in future.
