Qatar reports two more deaths from Covid-19; 225 new cases and 19 recoveries

The Ministry of Public Health today announced 225 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), with the total number of people having recovered in the State of Qatar having now reached 150 cases with a further 19 recovered cases announced today. Sadly, in addition, it was also confirmed today that two patients have died taking the toll to 6 deaths so far from the virus.

Some new cases are related to travellers who came to the State of Qatar and others related to contacts including citizens and residents. The new cases have been put into quarantine and are receiving the necessary medical care.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now stands at 2057 and there are 1901 active cases are under treatment.

 Ministry of Public Health conducted a laboratory tests to detect the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for 3710 people today, bringing the total number of tests to 41818 so far. This is owing to the use of new laboratory techniques which is helping to increase the number of tests being done and the expansion of central laboratory capacity, enabling more tests to be completed each day.

 There were 19 more cases of recovery recorded today, bringing the total number of recovered patients in the State of Qatar to 150.

 Ministry of Public Health announced the death of a 74-year-old resident who was suffering from chronic diseases. The deceased was admitted to intensive care upon his arrival to the hospital last Sunday because of his deteriorating health condition as a result of severe kidney failure. Further tests also showed that he was infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19), and despite being given the necessary treatment and care, his condition deteriorated, which led to his death this morning.

 In addition, Ministry of Public Health announced that a 59 year old resident – who was suffering from chronic diseases – had also sadly died. He had been hospitalized while he was in an advanced state of the disease. 

Ministry of Public Health extended its sincere condolences and great sympathy to the families of the deceased.

Ministry of Public Health urged all members of society to take all the necessary precautions to stay safe, including maintaining social and physical distancing to reduce the chances of contracting the virus.
