Qatar reports 546 COVID-19 cases and 5 deaths on July 6

Ministry of Public Health today confirmed 546 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 1614 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered from the disease to 93898 cases. The Ministry also announced 5 new deaths. 

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now stands at 100345 and there are 6314 active cases under treatment. So far, 133 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar. Ministry conducted 4677 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 386111 tests.

In addition, the Ministry announces five new deaths, for people aged 59, 64, 67, 80 and 88 - all were receiving the necessary medical care. 

There are 62 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.The ministry also announces the introduction of 9 cases to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 164.

“There has been an increase in cases among families. This is of great concern as this population group includes the highest percentage of the elderly and people with chronic conditions.  Now more than ever, we must be careful and protect the most vulnerable,” MoPH said in a statement.

The Ministry of Public Health urged anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to contact the unified helpline (16000), or to go to one of the virus testing centers, since the earlier detection of the disease results in a better chance of recovery. 

The main screening centers include Muaither Health Center, Rawdat Al Khail Health Center, Umm Slal Health Center, and Al Gharafa Health Center.
