Qatar has occupied top rank in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2017. Qatar ranked 8th in the economic performance, 11 in the government efficiency, 12 in terms of efficiency of the business sector, while ranked 38 in the infrastructure sector. Qatar ranked 17th out of 63 countries, mostly developed countries, according to the same book. This ranking indicates the strong performance that continues to be achieved at various levels. Qatar’s ranking was positively impacted by a number of factors, including: strong economic performance represented by low unemployment rate, high fixed capital formation ratio of GDP, domestic savings ratio of GDP, trade balance ratio of GDP, and overall productivity increase.
