Doha: Free, on-demand ride-sharing pilot service by Qatar Rail, metroexpress has expanded its service to other areas.
The service will now cover Al Qassar, Katara, Legtaifiya and Qatar University stations, tweeted the Doha Metro. It added that DECC and West Bay stations will also have wider metroexpress coverage.
The ride-sharing service provides metro users with quick and convenient access to metro stations and the area nearby and was originally launched in July 2019 for convenient access to DECC and West Bay QIC metro stations.
metroexpress can be booked through the designated app (on iOS or Android).
The programme accepts multiple passengers’ bookings heading in the same direction and pools them into shared vehicles, using an advanced algorithm that calculates the most direct route possible without lengthy detours, or inconvenient fixed routes and schedules.
This service is exclusive for Doha Metro passengers registered with Qatar Rail and can be only used in conjunction with a metro ride.
