Qatar girl to attend Toyota Dream Car Art Contest awards ceremony

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has selected 30 award winners for the 13th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, in which children drew their “dream car”, from among 953,064 entries from 86 countries and regions around the world.

The prizes, including gold, silver, bronze, and special awards, will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Mega Web in Tokyo, Japan, in August.

From Qatar, eight-year-old Serah Maria Rejeesh - who lives in Doha and took part in the contest - will attend the awards ceremony in Tokyo.

The award winners will visit Japan from August 27, accompanied by their parents or guardians, according to a press statement issued in Doha by Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB), the sole dealers for Toyota in Qatar.

In addition to attending the ceremony, they will participate in hands-on programmes introducing the Japanese culture and manufacturing, during which they will interact with award winners from other countries and regions.

Conducted as part of Toyota's social contribution activities, the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is open to children aged 15 years and below worldwide. The contest, first conducted in 2004, gives children throughout the world the "opportunity to develop an interest in cars and helps them feel the joy and importance of having a dream", the statement notes.

National contests were held in February and March, with the outstanding entries selected to progress to the world contest held in Japan in May. TMC president Akio Toyoda led a jury consisting of experts in art and automotive science in selecting the winners.
