Qatar Education Ministry allows private schools to collect seat reservation fees

Doha: The Department of Private Schools Licensing of the Ministry of Education issued a circular to private schools and kindergartens in the country yesterday, regarding seat reservation fees for the academic year 2020/2021.

According to the circular schools are entitled to charge parents seat reservation fees, which started with the early registration in March, to ensure the student is continuing in the next academic year.

The circular clarified that seat reservation fees should be deducted from the first semester fees and should not be considered separate.

It also added that the school or kindergarten is entitled to grant the seat to another student on the waiting list, in case the guardian is late in paying the reservation fees. And if so, this should be informed to the parent in writing so that they can find another school.

The ministry also notified that schools should also not require the guardian to pay the fees for the first semester in full, and only collect the seat reservation fees.
