The distribution of the school supplies took place in the presence of Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah, adviser to the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in addition to other local government officials.

The adviser highly appreciated the support of benefactors in Qatar, especially for the orphans in Mansehra district, stating that QC has been sponsoring orphans for decades in Pakistan.

He added that as education is the most important factor in the development of any country, Pakistan’s education sector needs more attention from NGOs like Qatar Charity, which has been supporting underprivileged families in Pakistan, especially for their children’s better education.

Ameen Abdulrahman, director of QC’s Pakistan office, thanked the authority concerned in the country for facilitating Qatar Charity’s interventions for the benefit of orphans in Mansehra district. He also thanked benefactors in Qatar for supporting the orphans’ education, noting that social

protection is among Qatar Charity’s top priorities to help the vulnerable lead a dignified life.

He said QC commenced its humanitarian journey in Pakistan in 1992 by implementing projects for orphans, and currently, it extends health, social and educational support to more than 10,000 orphans in the country, including those in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. He also expected a rise in the number of sponsored orphans in the next few months.

The students expressed delight at receiving the school supplies from Qatar Charity. “I love to continue my education, but due to the tough financial situation of my family, I was not having proper school clothes and shoes,” said 7th grader Aiman Naveed, whose father died six years ago. Naveed thanked Qatar Charity for providing school supplies for her and other orphans.

Naveed, who is sponsored by QC, said she wants to be a doctor and serve the poor and orphans after the completion of her education.

Qatar Charity, through its ‘Rafaqa’ initiative, provides inclusive care to more than 180,000 children and orphans in different regions of the world, and implements various social, educational and cultural projects for them, aiming to provide a dignified life for them.
