Qatar chairs meeting of Arab foreign ministers

HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi chaired a consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers at the headquarters of the Arab League's General Secretariat ahead of the start of the 156th session of the ministerial-level meeting of the Arab League Council. The meeting reviewed the main issues on the agenda of the 156th session of the Arab League Council, including items related to the protection and preservation of Arab national security and support for the Palestinian cause, in addition to the developments in Libya, Syria and Yemen and the co-ordination of Arab positions on the issues presented to the next session of the United Nations General Assembly.

HE al-Muraikhi also participated in the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee on taking actions to stop Israeli measures in Jerusalem, which was held yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman al-Safadi, as his country chairs the committee.

The committee includes in its membership Qatar, Egypt, Palestine, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tunisia in its capacity as the President of the Arab Summit and the Arab member of the Security Council, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.

The committee is scheduled to submit a report on the results of its work and the draft resolution on the item included in the draft agenda for approval and adoption as a decision issued by the 156th session of the Arab League Council at the level of Arab foreign ministers.
