Qatar Airways to sponsor theatre awards in London

Qatar Airways announced yesterday that it will be the official sponsor of the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in the UK, an annual event to highlight outstanding achievements in London Theatre.

One of the most highly anticipated events of the London calendar, the Evening Standard Theatre Awards will this year be co-hosted by Cate Blanchett, American composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and Anna Wintour, alongside the owner of the London Evening Standard newspaper, Evgeny Lebedev.

The long-standing annual awards ceremony is now in its 63rd year and will this year take place on Sunday at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. This year, the awards consist of nine prizes including Best Actor and Best Actress and accolades for directing, designing, writing and individual productions, with winners in each category announced by the talented writer and actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Qatar Airways connects London to more than 150 destinations via its award-winning Hamad International Airport, and also offers seamless connecting flights from countries such as Japan, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Now in its twentieth year of operations, the national carrier of the State of Qatar has a modern fleet of 206 aircraft flying to business and leisure destinations across six continents.

Earlier this year, Qatar Airways announced that it will launch direct daily flights to Cardiff on May 1, 2018. Alongside 84 weekly non-stop flights to and from London Heathrow, Qatar Airways currently serves Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh, with Cardiff to be the airline’s fifth destination in the UK.

The current London route is served by an Airbus A380, Airbus A350, Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 aircraft which features the new Qsuite Business Class seats, a new concept from the airline which brings a First Class experience to the Business Class cabin, including the industry’s first ever double bed in Business Class.

As well as enjoying unrivalled five-star service, premium customers can also be pampered with amenities from world-class brands such as BRIC’S, Nappa Dori, Monte Vibiano and The White Company. All passengers have access to the airline’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system, Oryx One which offers up to 4,000 entertainment options.
