Qatar Airways continues to win appreciation by flying citizens back home in these trying times.
The Airline has helped hundreds of Australian and New Zealand citizens in Kuwait and Lebanon to reach home safely. Australian Embassy in Kuwait thanked Qatar’s national airline for playing crucial role in flying citizens back.
“Australian Embassy staff is here at Kuwait International Airport to help around 20 Australians and couple of New Zealanders who have been booked on a special commercial Qatar Airways to Doha and onward to Sydney and Auckland,” said Jonathan Gilbert, Australian Ambassador to Kuwait, in a video message posted on his official twitter account, yesterday.
“My thanks to Kuwaiti authorities in Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Directorate General of Civil Aviation for their approval of the flight. I would also like to thank Canadian and Japanese embassy for their support in making this flight happen. Finally thank you to all the team at Qatar Airways in Kuwait for their tireless efforts,” added the Ambassador.
Qatar Airways has announced two daily flights from Kuwait to select destinations via Doha. Australia’s Ambassador to Lebanon thanked Qatar Airways and other stakeholders for their efforts. “233 Aussies and their families have now left Beirut to return home to Australia,” said Rebekah Grindlay, Australia’s Ambassador to Lebanon on her official twitter account, yesterday.
Qatar Airways is still operating flights to many cities around the world including London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Sydney, helping thousands of passengers get home safely.
The multiple award-winning airlines has already helped to repatriate, British, German, Omani, Pakistani, Filipino, Indian, Swiss, American, Canadian and French citizens as charters were organised by their respective governments for their citizens. In addition, it is ensuring that importers can maintain supplies of fresh produce and pharmaceuticals through Qatar Airways Cargo.
Qatar Airways Cargo has increased services around the world, operating freighters and freight-only passenger aircraft to ensure the continuity of global trade and transportation of essential supplies to where they are needed during this critical time.
The airline has introduced additional capacity to cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Paris, Amsterdam, Muscat, Kuwait, Delhi, Beijing and Melbourne. The airline also continues to work closely with governments across the globe to operate freighter charters to support State efforts to bring in humanitarian aid and essential supplies. To ensure the safety of crew and cargo, the airline has implemented special procedures for ground handling to ensure minimum contact between staff and adherence to social distancing guidelines are met.
