A trunk show by renowned Indian designer Manish Malhotra which showcased inspirational collection was a centre of attraction in this year’s Shop Qatar at Mondrian Doha.
Nooraniyat, The Bridal Edit the latest collection of Malhotra’s bridal couture had its first exclusive trunk show in Qatar and attracted many fashion enthusiasts.
Weaved in fine craftsmanship and exquisite intricate elements, the Nooraniyat collection 2021 is an enchanting medley of bridal glory sprawled across strikingly hued compositions where each ensemble narrates an emotional story of its own. “Nooraniyat is a collection which is very special….For me this year has all been about Nooraniyat and kind of close to my heart, the reactions have been phenomenal in aspects of sale, love and acceptance,” Malhotra told The Peninsula, adding that it was his first collection after the lockdown.
“I’m happy to bring Nooraniyat to Qatar,” he added.
In this collection also, Manish has been working with the Mijwan Welfare Society, an NGO, extending support to various crafts and diligently working towards reviving and promoting the traditional craft of Chikankari.
The collection was initially unveiled in a 4-minute long film featuring Bollywood star Sara Ali Khan, who played Malhotra’s muse for his stunning bridal collection.
Manish, who has been in Doha earlier for different events for over seven years, said, “It just evolves each time I come here. Qatar to me is a hub in the Middle East for culture, art and creative innovation. Each time I come here the infrastructure keeps changing and evolving. People have great taste for clothes and they understand clothes.
“And for me it’s a very warm place, the warmth of people, the acceptance, the appreciation for different art and culture.”
He also acknowledged that Qatari designers have great talent and have a growing interest in fashion.
“I see them having great flair and a very interesting take, new take to fashion by having innovation and modern aspects yet keeping the tradition,” he said.
Qatar Tourism and Shop Qatar 2021 in collaboration with Fab Entertainment held the three-day trunk show of Manish’s Nooraniyat, The Bridal Edit.
