Police patrols respond in 3 to 4 minutes to security alerts: Official

Doha: Police patrols respond quickly to security alerts and take only 3 to 4 minutes to arrive at the place of incident, an official from the Ministry of Interior said.

There is more focus on residential and commercial areas and places where there are higher incidence alerts, he added.
"In case of any suspicion or after receiving a security alert, the patrols respond quickly to information and arrive at the spot in 3 to 4 minutes, and this is a very fast compared to other countries," said First Lieutenant Fahad Al-Mansoori, an officer in the technical office of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior.

Speaking to Qatar Radio today, he said that the patrols are distributed in all areas of the country and operate 24 hours a day to establish security.

“We have a preventive role before the crime occurs, as the presence and intensification of patrols in commercial areas and vital areas aims to prevent crimes from occurring,” he added.

On a question about the security situation in residential neighbourhoods, especially during late hours, the lieutenant said that "the security in Qatar is very high and the rate of security breaches are low compared to other countries.”

"This, of course, does not prevent the occurrence of theft and other crimes, so we intensify the patrols in places where there are many security reports, especially during the weekend and summer vacation during which there are more incidences,” he added.

Al-Mansoori noted that “as soon as we receive any alert, we go immediately to the spot, and usually patrols are always close by in most areas.”

“There is also continuous coordination between the Criminal Investigation Department, the Search and Follow-up Department and others to carry out inspections to arrest fugitive workers and those who shelter them and refer them to the competent authorities,” Al Mansoori said.
