Planet Tec to spearhead revival of premium electronics in Qatar

Planet Tec, celebrating its 15th anniversary this month under a new general manager, will soon announce a major influx of new brands and product categories as part of its aim to be a major electronics retailer in Qatar.

The company is Qatar’s exclusive distributor of Hitachi range of consumer products including ‘Made in Japan’ products and the distributor of the Midea range of residential air conditioners, according to a statement.

Planet Tec’s new general manager Mohamed Anis has nearly two decades of experience in Qatar’s electronics sector. The main showroom at Souq Thuraia on Salwa Road is set for a total revamp and renovation to showcase their premium products. There is a plan to set up more showrooms across Qatar.

Planet Tec will be introducing range of premium ‘Made in Japan’ Hitachi home appliances and electronics. The ‘Made in Japan’ products include refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens, air purifiers and the re-launched Hitachi air conditioners.

“Hitachi is a 110-year-old company with 803 different companies worldwide, encompassing sectors from Construction Machinery, IT, Energy, Medical/Consumer/Automotive Electronics, to Metals and Mobility (escalators, elevators, etc),” it was explained.  The Midea range of room air conditioners include Portable ACs, Window ACs, Split ACs, Floor Standing ACs, Duct & Cassette AC.

“The sale of Midea air conditioners in Qatar has grown 50% this year despite the Covid-19 setbacks,” Anis said.

Planet Tec has also launched a range of electronic massage chairs along with other massage and healthcare products from the renowned OTO brand of Singapore. “The high-end OTO massage chairs will be retailing from Planet Tec as well as Blue Salon showroom,” the official stated.

Planet Tec is also poised to introduce other brands with products such as Chest and Vertical Freezers, Built-in Appliances, and Mobile & IT Accessories. The company’s sprawling logistics and warehousing facility at Doha’s Industrial Area, will be soon be shifted to a considerably larger facility.
