Petrol price to rise by Dh10 a litre in November

After dropping for two months, petrol prices in Qatar will go up by Dh10 a litre next month while there will not be any change in the diesel price in November, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industry.

The Ministry of Energy and Industry yesterday said the 91-octane Premium gasoline will cost QR1.35/litre (QR1.25 now) and Super QR1.45 (QR1.35 now) in November.

The current price for this month QR1.25 (Premium) and QR1.35 (Super) will be in effect until today.

Diesel, however, will remain unchanged at QR1.4/litre in November.

Fuel prices in Qatar were allowed to fluctuate in response to changes in the global market from May 1.

Every month, a special committee comprising representatives from various government bodies, would review fuel prices (gasoline and diesel) and make recommendations on proposed prices for the local market accordingly.

The monthly revision in local fuel prices followed the government’s decision on fuel subsidy reforms in Qatar.

The November increase follows two months of price drop by Dh5 a litre for both Premium and Super gasoline.

Since September, oil prices in the global market have been buoyed by a tentative deal by the Opec to cut production and pull prices out of a two-year slump.

But rising uncertainty over the execution of the plan has, however, seen oil prices fall 2% so far this week.
