Ooredoo to showcase Qatar's safe smart cities at Qitcom

Ooredoo, the Strategic Sponsor of Qitcom, will showcase the latest ICT services to enable ‘Safe Smart Cities’ during the event, which will be held from October 29 to November 1 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ Tasmu Smart Programme, Ooredoo will showcase the latest business and consumer technology Internet of Things (IoT) innovations that can transform key smart city industry verticals such as sports, healthcare, transport, logistics, environment, and cybersecurity.

Chief operations officer Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi said, “Ooredoo is accelerating our digital strategy to totally transform Qatar’s smart cities and smart government needs, with Qitcom providing a vital platform to showcase the industry-leading solutions that can provide safe smart city infrastructure and enable digital transformation across industry verticals. Smart cities can optimise IT costs, deliver and scale-up e-government services, and enhance citizen happiness.”

In anticipation of smart city cyber risks, Ooredoo will also showcase the latest cybersecurity services with a horizontal approach for industry verticals. Ooredoo’s cybersecurity solutions include Managed Secure Operations Centre, Managed Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), Cloud Web Security, Cloud Email Security, and the Microsoft Azure Stack IoT Platform.

Al-Kubaisi added: “Ooredoo will network with stakeholders in Qatar and worldwide, demonstrate our smart city concepts and solutions to a global audience, and get closer to our customers and partners to elevate the recognition of our industry-leading ICT services.”

At the Ooredoo stand, visitors can experience smart and connected sports (Ooredoo Sports Application, Smart Stadium, 5G Fan Experience), Healthcare (Mobile Clinic, Remote Patient Monitoring, Virtual Consultation, ICE Tracking), Transport (Crowd Management, Smart Parking, Social Mobility), Logistics (Smart Lockers, Virtual Convenient Store), Environment (Waste Management, Digital Farmer, Smart Buildings), Digital Experiences (Ooredoo Exchange for Blockchain transactions, Life Platform for API management, Voice enabled top-up), and Cybersecurity.

Ooredoo will also showcase a fully automated smart home using the cutting-edge technology. The new solutions will be launched in Qatar for the first time, and apply modern technologies such as Smart Glass, Automated Parking System, 3D Volumetric Call, as well as the latest in Outdoor Cooling technology.
