No more paper notices on power outage from April 1

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced it will not issue paper notices for power outage from April 1. The notification will be sent via SMS, it said.

The move comes within Kahramaa's endeavour to provide high-quality smart services in accordance with the highest quality standards, the corporation said in a statement.

With the new service, customers will receive an SMS on their registered mobile in case of power outage, due to operation or planned maintenance, including outage date and expected duration. No stickers will be put up.

Customers can update their personal data via the Kahramaa website (km.qa), mobile application or call centre - 991. The information update will allow for better communication with customers, who can avail of a range of services and receive Kahramaa updates and SMS for power outage, monthly electricity and water consumption rate and bills, alerts in the event of exceeding the regular consumption, and more.

Power outage notifications via SMS are part of Kahramaa's plans to stop dealing with paper in order to protect the environment as part of its commitment to achieve sustainable environmental development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The move also highlights its endeavour to achieve its corporate objective to “Increase Social Advocacy and Environmental Compliance”, the statement adds.
