The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said yesterday that the quarantine telephone number, 44579999, received 3,775 calls between March 31 and April 4.
Similarly, the emergency telephone number, 999, got 491 complaints regarding gatherings in the same period, the MoI tweeted.
The ministry reminded members of the public to strictly follow the decision to prevent all forms of gathering, by the rule of law, in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus, which causes the Covid-19 respiratory disease.
“Precautionary measures are implemented to ensure the safety of all,” it said in another tweet.
An accompanying infographic reiterated the types and places of gatherings that are prohibited by law, in accordance with a decision by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
These are social functions at homes, courtyards of mosques, majlis, social gatherings, mourning, the Corniche, beaches, public parks and vehicles (not included in the decision if the travel is for a necessary purpose).
Regarding quarantine, the ministry has urged people to call 44579999 to “report complaints regarding quarantine in hotels and homes, as well as cases of non-compliance with health and safety guidelines”.
