Headed by GAC assistant chairman Mohamed Ahmed al-Mohannadi, the delegation comprised members of the National Committee and representatives of other government agencies involved in the internal operations of the port.
The tour covered the central inspection area, inspection platforms, the x-ray examination building, the central laboratory, the X-ray equipment for the gates, and other facilities.
Al-Mohannadi said the visit was aimed at following up on the implementation of the decisions from the committee’s meetings, highlighting the keenness to reduce the time for releasing shipments, especially food commodities.
He also referred to the committee's role in following up on international supply chains and the role of customs clearance procedures and electronic follow-up, which inform the the country's economic policy and supports the approach adopted by the country to maintain the stability of the local market.
The delegation members visited various facilities of the port.
Specialists briefed them of the details of the work cycle in the port, the process of obtaining permits and approvals, the inspection and valuation processes that take place at customs, as well as the inspection and verification platforms with regard to customs labour standards.
The National Committee for Customs Clearance continues its periodic meetings, discussing everything related to import and export operations in the country.
This is with the active participation of representatives of 10 government and private agencies related to trade movement.
