Municipalities gear up for Eid

The authorities at all municipalities in the country have intensified preparations for Eid al-Fitr, through campaigns and continuous inspection tours at food establishments, maintenance of public parks, and cleaning of Eid prayer yards to receive the public during the Eid days.

Health control sections at the municipalities have also highlighted their preparations to monitor food establishments during the Eid, coming up with comprehensive work plans that include inspection tours to ensure compliance with health requirements and procedures by these establishments and their employees, the Ministry of Municipality said in a statement.

In Doha Municipality, the health control section in the municipal control department has raised the level of preparedness through a specialised team of inspectors and veterinarians who will inspect establishments such as shopping complexes, sweets and nuts shops, and catering facilities to ensure the quality of foodstuff in circulation and butcheries to inspect carcasses on a daily basis.

The efforts include the inspection of vegetables and fruits sent to the central market and warehouses in the Industrial Area.

The authorities in Al Rayyan Municipality have also intensified their preparations for the Eid, including campaigns and continuous inspection tours at food establishments and the cleaning of public squares and roads.

The health control section will inspect shopping complexes, sweets and nuts shops, and catering facilities in two shifts, and inspect carcasses in slaughterhouses on a daily basis.

The work covers the inspection of vegetables and fruits at Al Sailiya Central Market.

Complaints received during the Eid al-Fitr holiday will be followed up, and wholesale and retail stores will be inspected in a three-shift system 24 hours a day.

Meanwhile, the public parks department has prepared all gardens by taking care of the facilities, sports equipment and playgrounds, while providing services to ensure hygiene and security in preparation for the Eid.

The parks will be open from 5am-1am.

The general control department's work includes conducting inspection tours in two shifts, targeting abandoned vehicles and advertisements put up without a licence, and will follow up on complaints during the holiday.

Al Shamal Municipality will be having continuous inspection tours at food establishments and the cleaning of Eid prayer yards and roads.

The health control section has prepared a work plan that covers inspection campaigns at all food establishments, with a focus on shopping complexes, eateries, popular kitchens, meat and poultry shops, restaurants and pastry shops.

Work at the slaughterhouse will be conducted from 7am-5pm, seven days a week.

Shops selling meat, poultry and fish will be inspected in two shifts, morning and evening, to ensure that these are complying with health requirements.

Inspection campaigns conducted on a daily basis will cover the sale of foodstuff, focusing on sweets, nuts and vegetables stores, as activities at these stores increase during the Eid period.

During the Eid holiday, veterinarians and food inspectors will be on duty to receive and deal with public complaints.

Inspections will also be carried out on streets, in squares, neighbourhoods, public parks and areas in front of shops, restaurants and beaches to prevent public hygiene violations.

Worksites of companies carrying out excavation and construction works will also be inspected.

The parks department also carried out comprehensive cleaning works at all park facilities, including play areas, pathways, water coolers, lampposts and others.

The parks will be open from 8am until midnight during the holiday period.

The cleanliness department has carried out cleaning and disinfection operations at Eid prayer grounds and mosques.

Disinfection works have also been conducted at the fish market, slaughterhouses and places where garbage containers are located.

Requests for sanitation and pest/rodent control will be addressed from 8am until 12 noon.

Umm Salal Municipality will also conduct inspection campaigns targeting the most active establishments during the Eid holiday period, in particular shops selling sweets, pastries, chocolates and nuts.

These are in addition to conducting inspections at slaughterhouses, which are expected to see hectic activity.

All shops will be covered during the Eid al-Fitr holiday in morning and evening shifts, with a team set up to receive complaints and quickly respond.
