Mozambique president: summit an important platform for gas industry development

Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi has praised the convening of the 6th Summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, stressing that this summit is an important platform for developing the gas industry in the forum's member states.

In a speech delivered during the opening session of the summit, he said that natural gas is an essential element for building peace, stability, and prosperity in the GECF countries.

Nyusi said that the summit is the best platform for exchanging experiences, knowledge, and information among member states.

He referred to his country's experience in the natural gas industry and its export, saying that Mozambique exports on a small scale and aspires to move to the ranks of the major exporting countries represented at this summit.

The president pointed out that the production of liquefied gas in Mozambique continues in full swing, which would open a new era for it, and stressed that its gas project is a major one that would have a significant impact on increasing income, exports, and providing job opportunities.

Nyusi said that Mozambique hopes to benefit from the experiences and expertise of other gas exporting countries to structure its natural gas projects, which will benefit current and future generations.

He stressed the importance of the summit to build relationships and interactions, especially considering global challenges due to climate change and efforts to ensure sustainable development.

Nyusi added that natural gas is the best alternative to the usual sources of energy. – QNA
