More than 200 overseas Filipinos repatriated from Qatar

Doha:  More than 200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) were repatriated from Qatar on Monday, February 7. 

In an announcement on its official Facebook page, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar said: "The Philippine government, under the leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte; and through the efforts of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Qatar, mounts a chartered flight via Philippine Airlines to send home more than 200 Filipinos, including children and infants."

The charted flight also marks as the 15th of its kind organized by the Embassy since the Covid-19 pandemic began. 

According to OFW Help, the official Facebook page of Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs, the repatriated OFWs underwent arrival health protocols upon landing in the country.

In a post, it stated: "Those who were fully vaccinated and had negative RTPCR test results were allowed to proceed to their respective residences, with the OWWA providing transportation assistance to repatriates who lacked the means to go home on their own." 

The Philippine Embassy in Qatar further expressed its gratitude and said: "The Embassy expresses its sincere gratitude to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior and its Search and Follow Up Department, the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, and the Hamad International Airport for their invaluable assistance."
