MoCI issues guidelines for labelling national products

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) issued mandatory terms that instruct local manufacturers and producers to place the national product label on all agricultural products as well as all locally-manufactured and semi-manufactured goods sold in Qatar.

Through this circular, the Ministry aims to support and promote national products across local market, enable producers to easily reach consumers and provide access to new markets for traders and producers seeking to offer new products. The overall aim is to contribute to the state’s efforts to bolster local products in line with its strategic plans.

All manufacturers and producers, as well as sales outlets, who have obtained the necessary approvals and official licenses can use the national product logo, according to a statement from the MoCI.

The logo can be used on all locally manufactured and semi-manufactured products, and should appear on the front cover of the package or any other place clearly visible to the consumer, but not the bottom.

Logo stickers can be placed on shipping and distribution vehicles and must be designed in proportion to the vehicle’s size. The logo can be placed on advertising materials for marketing purposes. It is prohibited to use the logo on products intended for export. The slogan or phrase “Made in Qatar” may be used in such cases. Adherence to the design guidelines is required while changing the shape or content of the logo is prohibited.
