MoCI inspection on street vendors

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Municipality, has conducted a joint inspection campaign on street vendors in Mukaynis.

The campaign identified four violations by several street vendors, who were working without commercial licences. The violators were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures, the MoCI said in a statement.

These inspection campaigns are part of the MoCI's effort to protect consumer rights and to monitor the extent of compliance with the laws and regulations governing the commercial sector.

The ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in meeting obligations stipulated in Law No. 5 of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors, as well as noncompliance with Ministerial Resolution No. 243 of 2016 on the licensing requirements and regulations to engage in street vendor activities.

The MoCI is working to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices and to refer violators of laws and ministerial decisions to the relevant authorities to take the appropriate measures.

The Ministry has urged all citizens and residents to report any violations pertaining to registration and commercial licensing via the call centre: 16001; Twitter: @MOCIQATAR; and Instagram: MOCIQATAR
